Baking and Pastry Arts- Parent's Page

Program Description

 

      The Baking and Pastry Program at Central Montco Technical High School is a continuation of the first level Culinary Arts Program.  Under the career pathway delivery format, the students will begin in the first level program, which is an overview of the entire Culinary Arts field including baking.  Upong completion of their first year at Central Montco, the students will choose to continue either the upper level Culinary Arts Program of the Baking and Pastry Program. 

      This is a two year program designed for students with a desire to enter the baking and pastry field.  Although some of the students enter the workforce upon graduation, it is recommended that they continue at a post-secondary institution to further their education in the field. The students will learn all aspects of the baking industry including various baking and decoration techniques, sanitation, planning, purchasing and receiving, nutrition, business and math skills and human relations skills.  They will also have the opportunity to work in our student run cafe.

      The students in the Baking and Pastry Program are also encouraged to become involved in our youth club, SkillsUSA.  It is one of the eight recognized Career and Technical Student Organizations by the state of Pennsylvania and provides scholarships through leadership and trade competitions and also provides opportunities for the students to develop their leadership abilities through various conferences.
